star gazingextraordinary everyday

On evenings when the weather is mild and our schedule permits, Kelly and I can often be found in our back yard, lounging in the hammock. It’s a great way to unwind, spend quality time together, and admire the view of the universe overhead. Snuggled up with my husband’s arm as a pillow, I’m always intrigued by his ability to point out different planets and list several scientific facts that I must have missed out on in school.

And yet as much as I enjoy the humble view from our back yard near the edge of town, nothing compares to the night sky filled with billions of stars that one can see from out in the country. I must have admired it a thousand times while living there, and yet it always seems to take my breath away when we go back. Kelly and I have been talking about heading down the dirt road with our cameras in the middle of the night for years, and this past weekend we finally made good on our promise to do so.

Here’s to nights spent star gazing.
