a new series on the work it takesthe lawn clippings

Earlier this year, we dedicated many hours/days creating a video to introduce the updated brand for our photography business, Kel and Mel. Faced with the challenge of providing an accurate picture of real life, we questioned little things like whether our yard should be freshly trimmed and the house spotless on the day of filming. Does showcasing our home at its very best present a false reality that it appears that way every waking moment? How can we remain true to our mission of authenticity, without the need to put on display the ugliness that results from a lack of proper maintenance?

We found the perfect solution in a bag of grass.

Since introducing The Elle in Love, our purpose in writing has been to offer a genuine glimpse at our lives – sharing the joy we find in living side by side while also being real about the fact that marriage isn’t always glamorous and most definitely takes work. Last week we shared a few lessons we’ve learned from the lawn clippings, and we are excited to introduce you to a new series coming soon based on that same concept… appropriately titled “Lawn Clippings” Wednesday.

Our hope is that through this series, we can offer a respite from the constant pressure of the false-perfections we face through social media and pop-culture, and talk realistically about the intentionality that oneness requires, as well as share the resources we are finding helpful along the way.

Join us next week as we kick off this series. Word is, we may even have a little something for you. ;D We look forward to seeing you there!
