We love cooking together and yet we didn’t actually know much about cooking when we got married. In fact, the first time that I attempted to cook a chicken breast… well, let’s just say that the alarms went off in our apartment as smoke filled the kitchen. Over the years, a love was developed for creating delicious meals and before I knew it, Kelly was joining me by the stove to lend a helping hand. Now, we even schedule date nights to stay home and cook together. Some of our favorite memories involve listening to music (find our playlist here), drinking wine, and dancing in the kitchen while the veggies saute.
Our side by side recipes have been divided into “his and hers” tasks so that you can work together while preparing a meal.
We’ve intentionally left out specific directions and exact amounts for three reasons:
– This recipe isn’t an exact science, so it is up to you to work together to figure out what suits your tastes as a couple.
– Cooking together should be an adventure.
– The best recipes are the ones you create yourself!
So make a quick coffee stop on your way to the market and push the cart around together, put on some music and enjoy conversation in the kitchen, and “rock-paper-scissors” it over who washes and who dries the dishes.
Tonight we’re making Grilled Steak Quesadillas.
