love on the runmemories of us

As you may recall, a few months ago I was able to attend a workshop at the cutest little papermill and letterpress studio, Porridge Papers. Turns out they put on an annual Valentine’s event for the community, Love on the Run. It took about two seconds to decide we wanted to participate and signed up as “Valenteers” for this year’s event.

For those of you unfamiliar with Love on the Run, it is a free event at which you type (as in on an antique typewriter!) a love note and place it in a little paper bag along with a Polaroid of yourself from the photo booth. The handmade bags are then delivered to your loved one on Valentine’s Day. And as if that’s not amazing enough for you, snacks and beverages are also provided (including milk and cookies, cupcakes, and even wine for ladies night).

I just can’t say enough good things about this and if you’re in Lincoln, you’ll definitely want to check out the deets on how you can attend Love on the Run next year – and every year after that. (This was the eighth year and I’m really not sure how we managed to miss out on the first seven because it is truly incredible!)

As for our experience… first one of my lovely sisters joined me for ladies’ night and the two of us had a great time typing love notes for our husbands while filling up on toffee and bundt cake.

For the second half of the evening, I was joined by a really handsome guy as we rocked our Valenteer sashes and helped out with a few odds and ends.

Have I mentioned that this place is amazing? Check it out… it’s oozing with love!

This Valentine’s Day, there will be something like 500 bottles containing personal, loving messages delivered all over town. The remarkable thing about that is, they didn’t cost the senders a dime. Which is pretty perfect because reminding your loved ones how much they mean is about the thought that goes in to it, not the dollar amount. And that’s what truly makes Love on the Run my favorite event to date and one we hope to be a part of for years to come.

Thank you, Porridge Papers for providing this incredible opportunity for the folks of Lincoln (and their loved ones) and for dedicating the countless hours and goods required to put on such an amazing event!

And thank you to the other local businesses who also participated! Shout out to Signature Bindery | The Leekers | Found & Flora | Nothing Bundt Cakes | Meadowlark | Goldenrod Pastries | The Getting Hipper Fun Bunch | Kitchen Sink Cookie Company | Tasty Good | 9 South Chargrill | Eagle Printing
