Over the past few years, I’ve fallen more and more in love with simplicity. I’m obsessed with pretty much anything gray or white and can’t get over how perfectly it pairs with natural wood and metal.
With all the beautiful colors that come along with the holidays, it’s been a fun challenge to find festive decor that also maintains a neutral color palette throughout our kitchen and living room. (Thankfully we have a cozy basement that our rustic, colorful decor suits perfectly!)
The Christmas tree, which was previously adorned with red and green bulbs, now displays several handmade ornaments and a touch of mercury glass. Something has been missing though, so when I randomly ended up on Pinterest the other day, I was thrilled to find the inspiration for these adorable wooden ornaments. (They are simple enough to figure out just by taking a look, but that link also includes complete instructions.)
I think Kelly appreciated the touch of masculinity added through the use of wood and screws, and as a result it was easy to get him on board with the project. We tag-teamed the steps and knocked out a handful of these out in no time!
Now to go make those cookies I promised him in return. ;D
